| Maalaea is the most centrally located area on Maui,
it is quiet and affordable, with a few Restaurants and many
choices of Accommodations.
From this central location Kihei is a ten minute drive,
about 30 minutes to Lahaina, and 15 minutes to Kihei and
Wailea. With views of the Kihei Wailea coast and Mt.
Haleakala as well as Molokini, kahoolawe and the Island
of Lanai. The Maalaea Harbor is where many Boating Activities depart from. Right in front of the Breakwall during the right weather are some pretty amazing wave breaks for the local surfers. Sugar Beach is just south of Maalaea harbor and extends all the way past Kihei and into Wailea. Sugar beach consists of very fine hard packed sand, making this an excellent beach for walking or jogging. Some say that a walk at sunset on this beach is the most romantic place on the island. |
